We are the Warner’s, Rita & Ron and we’re retired. Our home is in a beautiful and friendly community in Florida and our lives are full of fun, excitement and feeling fulfilled!
We both try to bring art and beauty to all areas of our lives, from the decor of our home and garden, to the smallest detail like placing a garnish on a plate of food.
Or you can become your own version of a gourmet cook or the “ Queen-Bee” of party planning. Or learn a new language for a travel destination or just for the “heck” of it. Help out at a school or hospital, volunteer at a food bank or a homeless kitchen or anything else you find interesting. Try all the things you’ve always put aside for lack of time and try something challenging & exciting.
We will be bringing you all kinds fun things to do to make your life more interesting and fulfilled, whether it’s art lessons (did you always want learn to paint? – it’s really easy and something ANYONE can do). Our moms both started painting in their late 60’s and continued into their late 80’s. They thoroughly enjoyed it and got to be pretty good at it, too. A few simple tips, a list of materials, and you can be on your way to creating your own art. Very satisfying!
Some ideas that we share will be about acquiring those new skills and some may be about simple changes in lifestyle. When you retire as a couple, you are in each other’s company 24/7. That can be a challenge but it can also become a great time to get to know each other again, after years of raising a family and working 9-5. Ron and I live in a very active community and we enjoy all of our activities with friends and neighbors, but we still relish our “date nites”. These might be just going to a movie or cooking dinner together and having a “candlelight”dinner at home.
Some of our posts will be written by me and some by Ron, as we both have our own interests & skills. Ron will probably even discuss ways to get involved & stay busy in your community, as doing this has given both of us a great feeling of fulfillment.
Here and there we will probably drop in some simple health tips as it goes without saying that a healthy lifestyle is where everything starts. A little walking, pool aerobics, Tai Chi or other exercise every day ( and it doesn’t even have to be strenuous) will help you feel good longer and has the added bonus of putting you into a happier frame of mind. Thoughts of gratitude and positivity each day also will lift your spirits. And, remember, happiness is an “inside job”, meaning it’s your CHOICE!!
We look forward to sharing our love of art, cooking, travel and creative DIY’s with all of you who are on this same retirement path with us.
Be talking to you soon, R & R
