Fun Foods for Halloween

Fun Halloween Foods for kids & adults

It’s that time of year again, Halloween, fun times for young and old.  Besides all the scary decorations and the fun of creating a unique costume, parties and food are fun for all.

To save time for creating the perfect party, you can always order all the candy and sweet treats on line, instead of traipsing all over town to find your kids’ (or your) favorites .  Our youngest son used to come home from college and say “ok Mom, where’s your stash of Snickers. I know you have them.”  I like this assortment https://amzn.to/2Y60jBf.

Fall always brings up the thought of warm beverages, soups and heartier fare  for me. But Halloween brings up spooky  and fun food, so we’ll try to combine them both into some great party foodI even

Potato Salad with Olive Spiders

The easiest way to add this to your party is, of course, to buy some potato salad from the  deli department in your local super market.  I do this quite often for a party because it leaves much more time for the decorating and all the fun stuff.

Spiders

Slice black olives in lengthwise strips.  You need 8 for each spider.  Place a whole olive in the center & arrange the legs on each side.

These could also be placed on Deviled eggs to serve.

Mummy Hot Dogs

These are cute little guys for kids & adults.   They  use Crescent rolls from the dairy case.

Unwrap the rolls and lay out flat, cut strips from the long side of each.  Wrap each strip around the dog and add strips until completed.  Leave a strip bare for the eyes.  Bake at 375 for 10 min.  When done, place googly eyes (from baking department) onto each.  I used peanut butter to stick them on.

Serve these with mustard, catsup or other condiments.

Hot Dog Monsters

This cute idea came from one of my friends, Pam.  She made them for her Grandchildren when they were young and they loved them.

Cut the dogs in half, make lenthwise slits up to within a half inch of top.  Cook in boilding water until the “legs” curl.  Add googly eyes, again, I used peanut butter.

"Cutie" Jack-o-lanterns

These are so cute .  They don’t require ANY prep time and get kids to eat something beside candy.  You just need to make faces on the mandarins with a washable marker.

Scary Oreo Cookie Monsters

These were  a simple little decorating job, using licorice strips , googley eyes & sprinkles and candy corn.  Use your imagination.
