Fun Whimsical Flamingo Painting
This cute and whimsical flamingo painting can be painted by anyone, including beginners. I painted it on a 10 x 20 canvas but it could be done on an 11 x 14 instead.
Colors needed: White, Black, Cad. red Lt., Flourescent or Cad. Orange, Magenta, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Lt. Olive or lime green, Chrome Oxide or sap green, Turquoise
Background: Top 1/3 of canvas is Turquoise and white, painted in horizontal strokes to resemble water. Add some white waves or froth.
Bottom: Sand is mixes of white+YO, YO, YO+BS, white
Flamingo - Body
Base with mixture of Cad.RdLt. + Magenta+ Orange + tch of white
Overstroke feathers on wings & head with above mix + more white
Legs: Base w/ YO+BS+White Accent knees: CRdLt + tch white
Beak: YO at top and Black at tip Highlight w/ White + YO
Eye: White, outlines w/ Black, white life-light
Sunglasses: Optional. Mine are Chrome Oxide green frames with thinned lime green for lense
Flamingo Attire
Swimsuit & Hat: mine is lime green w/ white dots all over
FlipFlops: Color of choice. Mine are same as hat & swimsuit with soles of BS+YO (our “Flamboyant Flamingo” MUST be color- coordinated, don’t you think?
Grass Skirt: Strokes of YO< BS + YO, BS, BS+White
Necklace & trim on Flipflops; Colors of choice. I used Tulip dimensional fabric paint (has a writing tip).
Background Accents
Wine Glasses: outlined in White with Cad RedLt + Magenta in Her’s
Bottle: Chrome Oxide green, wine color from above, inside. Label is YO
Table & Pole: YO+BS+ tch of Black for pole, all colors for table top
Thatched Umbrella: Strokes of YO, BS, YO+BS, Orange, Magenta, Cad RedLt.
Finishes
Can add stones, shells or sand to beach area.
Embellish Miss Flamingo as much as you want
